License to drive

Mac says he is ready to drive to work. 

So he can eat candy. 

Because when he came to my office on Halloween everyone gave him candy!

Mac is such a big boy. Now he happily uses the potty before his bath every night!

Snip snip

Mac is still working on his scissor skills. He wanted to cut up a piece of paper (and like a bad mom I walked out of the room while he was snipping... In my defense they are really dull kid scissors.)

When I walked back in he'd already gone for the broom and dust pan to clean up his home made confetti!

He now has a way to combine his two favorite hobbies -- using scissors and using a broom!

Good job Mac!

Thomas

Mac is on a first name basis with his barber Thomas. Perhaps because he shares a moniker with Thomas the Train. 

In any event, this weekend he decided he wanted to cut his baby's hair, just like Thomas cuts his hair!

Blue Steel

Mac had a patented look that we call "blue steel" or just "the Mackie look". 

But he can also turn on a happy look on command.

Morning

Who can sleep when there's coffee brewing and TV to be watched? #5am 

Mac gave up milk last Christmas but he's back to drinking his morning "cup of coffee" (milk with a dash of cocoa and pinch of sugar)

This morning we are both going for a second cup!

No complaints! Favorite time of day!

Playing Catch-up

I'm so overdue to post that I'm hoping to catch up and post some of the sweet moments of this summer!

The many faces of Mac

Although Mac still gets my attention in the morning (at 6am!) by crying, he's actually fairly cheerful in the mornings.

Dinner at Patrick's Roadhouse this weekend was capped off by a special treat -- ring pops! Neither Mac nor Katie Ray had ever had one before.

Mac's love of brooms might just have been overshadowed by his growing love of shovels. We got him a new one last week. 

It was a huge hit. 

You can see he figured out the job of scooping pebbles. 

And even once he got all clean, he did not want to part with the shovel. 

I'll admit I let him clutch it right through bedtime stories, but I drew the line at taking it into the crib with him!

Just one more.

Because his morning face is oh so sweet. 

A little extra time with this little man makes it totally worthwhile to get up at 5:40am, seven days a week!

Hammer Time

Beach Day

This morning we went to meet friends at the beach. My kind of beach day -- cool and overcast! The kids loved running around, playing in the sand and getting wet. And I didn't manage to get a single photo. 

Luckily, my friend shared a few pics tonight! 

The rest of the day we played in the backyard, drew pictures and lounged on the sofa. 

We kicked off summer tonight with a dinner of hot dogs, corn on the cob,peaches and ice cream!

Now we are somewhere in that zone that combines tired, happy, exhausted, overtired and grateful for the extra time together thanks to the long weekend!
