Christmas morning!

Right around Christmas morning, Mac realized he can sit up by himself.

It's opening up a whole new world!

Donnie and his track suit. Wicked cute!
(No, he doesn't actually wear a gold chain.)

Working backwards

That last post should have gone 'live' on November 21st.  I honestly haven't been back to the blog since, so I hadn't noticed it never posted.  So much has been going on since then -- namely an amazing trip back east and then two weeks of a cold and no sleep!  I'll post trip pics soon. But in the meantime:

I'm growing in every way.  I am still showing signs of teething but no tooth.  This week I *just* started sleeping in my big crib ... In the past few days I've added consonants to my babbling (gaaa and baaa.)... I'm starting to sit up a bit on my own and I've just started to enjoy food! Today I ate my whole lunch and dinner! Rice cereal with apple for lunch and rice cereal with pear for le diner. Last and definitely not least: last night I slept from 11-6am!!! A huge victory and a stretch of sleep not experienced since that dreaded week I turned four months old!

Six months old!?

Yes, it's true.  Six months have flown by... And yet, let's just say we've squeezed a lot of action for this family into these six months.

One thing we have barely done is TRAVEL! By this age, KR had traveled to San Francisco, Boston, Oregon, Colorado, Florida, and was prepping for a weekend in Vegas.  Well, Mac's ready to play catch up -- tomorrow we head to Boston, and then we'll swing through the Big Apple for good measure.

Here's a six-month old selfie, taken at 5am or so, lounging in bed with mom.

How 'bout one more:

And since I haven't posted in a week:

Lean on Me

Do you remember similar pics of Mac from September? He didn't seem to be much bigger than the bunny!

Now he is huge! It's hard to believe he's almost 6 months old!

He's started napping in his big crib lately. He even slept half a night in it, but at 1am Matt noticed that Mac had flipped onto his stomach and was burrowing his face into the corner of the mattress.  Every time Matt flipped him over onto his back, he went right back on his belly and started burrowing again! So for now he's sleeping in his co-sleeper again which is too small to allow him to flip over. (We're just worried he might accidentally flip himself out!)

Meanwhile, in more "why is he growing up so fast" news, he seems to be teething. He wants to gnaw on everything, including my chin! I really will miss his toothless grin, so I hope those teeth wait a bit.

(Gnawing on my chin was a favorite move of Katie Ray's when she was teething, too, and she got her first tooth the day before her 6-month 'birthday', so Mac seems to be on a similar schedule.)

Ps the crib sheet appears pink because it is.  It's been chilly at night and this is an old fleece sheet of KR's.  it's so much cozier than smooth cotton.  But yes, a bit girly!  Maybe that's why he looks so serious!

Keep on smiling

Little Mac got his first bad cold.  The whole family was felled at some point in the past few weeks.

But seriously, he kept on smiling the whole time, even with watery eyes and a goopy nose.

A happy baby!

Rock chalk Jay Hawks?

Not being an actual Jay Hawk myself, I can't be sure how to spell Rock Chalk.. But Mackie says: Go Kansas!

Dinner time

Third night eating rice cereal (aka porridge, in these parts).  He gobbled it up and asked for seconds.

And... First night sleeping on his own room.  Missing him already! But hoping he might consider sleeping more than 2 consecutive hours in the peace and quiet of his own room. (No snoring to wake him??!!).  Sleep has been hard to come by lately.

On Sunday, Mac supervised as I sorted out too small clothes.  He's in 6 or 9 month clothes now!

Put a bonnet on it

There is ever the slightest cooling of temps here in LA.  Just the excuse needed to put a bonnet on it! (My head, that is.)

It's not all bad...

In fact, it's all good.  Maribel has come down with the flu and Matt's out of town.  So I'm holding down the fort. Although the spector of household-wide flu now hovers, I'm looking on the bright side.

I get to enjoy a family sick day with a little one who isn't sick.  I'm so excited!!
We can spend the day together having fun, cuddling, napping, and playing!

No need to pump!  Yay. And this afternoon we can have a fun outing with Katie Ray, too!

Maybe Mac will get so tuckered out by his day that he will decide to sleep more than three hours at a stretch tonight.  Now that would really be "all good"!

Ps here is Mac lounging last night after dinner.
As you can see he is still thinking about rolling over (maybe we are having one of those sleepless periods caused by a developmental milestone?!?)

Everything goes in the mouth these days!

And once again, KR helped with the bath.  She decided to wear a swim suit because Mac is such a splasher!
(It's a wee bit big...)

Good night

we haven't been having so many good nights lately.  Mac's been waking up every few hours.  And so have I.  But I'm not complaining too much -- how can I when I am greeted by a face this cute!
(of course these pics were taken before bed, but he's just as sweet in the middle of the night)

By the way, Katie Ray is a huge help... doing Mac's bath whenever she's allowed and helping get him ready for bed.  If he fusses, she can always bring a smile to his face!
